Online Influencers

In recent years, social media influencers have become more and more popular through the rise of Instagram as well as TikTok. An "Online Influencer" is someone who uses social media to influence their life (nealschaffer.com). Some common influencers we know are the Kardashian girls, James Charles, and Bella Hadid. Some of the influencers from TikTok include Charlie D'Amelio, Bella Poarch, and Noah Beck. These people that are listed above rely on brand deals self-branding and marketing to create a reliable source of income. Whether it's signing a brand deal with a company to endorse them so people buy their products, these people will lie to get their check. Some people we don't expect to be influencers are political influencers.

Political influencers can vary in multiple aspects, whether they're endorsing products for their campaign or others' campaigns, or they do things for attention. Some big names in the industry are Rachel Maddow,  Sean Hannity, and Tucker Carlson. "Political Influence" is where one person of political power takes advantage of another person for political power (Crowdcreate.us). Social media creates an influence on us all, whether it's political or social, people's words and actions can have a serious impact on us. One way we can see this influence is through Online media influencers that made an impact on people and from the news were Andrew Tate and the Drag Queen children's library incident.

Andrew Tate made himself big on the internet by degrading women and bringing this mentality that men are the alpha beings and women are insignificant and should stay quiet. If you notice nothing like this was covered in the news because this type of thinking isn't
silenced even though it probably should be because it deals with social issues and ideologies that go back to the 50's. People like Tate really make me believe that people were born into the wrong generation because people who think they're superior to other people because of their gender, race or sexuality are jokes to today's society.
Now over the years men doing drag have become more and more popular through the acceptance of today's society as well as the show Rupauls Drag Race. However, earlier this year the news had people in shambles. Due to a drag queen story hour people felt that it was "unsafe" to have kids attend these events because drag queens are predators. The lies that surround this story are aggravating not just to me but to everyone in the community who supports it. All it takes is one angry right-winged newscaster and every conservative and Republican is swarming their children to "protect them". Online influence is a real thing and people don't want to take the time out of their day to understand other people that are different from them.

To recap, online influence plays a major role in today's society, through social media and the news. These sources of entertainment and news can tell us how to feel about issues and everyday topics and with that, means would could potentially lose our own way of thinking and creativity. The effect on later generations is not and won't really take into effect, but our generation and millennials are in for trouble if we keep acting the way we are by believing everything we read and watch on the internet.
